In addition to his parents Fred was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry, Ken and Ron DeHaas, one sister, Margie Schindler, two step daughters, Nikki Ridenour and Angela Crater and two step-great grandsons, Silas and Milo Cline.
Fred was proud of his Army service in the 40th Transportation Company in Bremerhaven, Germany. He enjoyed reading about history, day trips to flea markets, searching for old Diners and harassing the waitresses at Perkins. But most important to him was his family. He retired as a CO from PA Dept. of Corrections after 23 years. He later retired after 5 years of driving truck #174 for GOH.
