The earthly shadow of Alice Marie Fisher of Dix Run, Union Township, was overcome by God’s love on April 6, 2021 at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Alice was born to Serge and Mary Confer on March 22,during the spring flood of 1936, on the family farm, across Bald Eagle Creek from the doctor’s residence in Howard. Serge drove through waist deep water upon the bridge to fetch the doctor in his Model T Ford by removing the fan belt, so as not to flood the motor. And so she rode the floods of life with confidence and courage, walking to the one-room schoolhouse, performing as a Majorette at Bellefonte High School. And working as a secretary at the penitentiary. She loved William H. Fisher for 63 years, raising 3 children: Linda Harchak, Tim Fisher and Rodney Fisher. She is survived by her brothers, Blair Confer, Laird Confer and Dale Confer; and her sisters, Lala Lindsey and Helen Kustanbauter. She has 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Under her guidance all the marriages in her family are intact with multiple college graduates and doctorates. Alice was faithful to attend Berean Bible Fellowship Church in Unionville, where she learned to live with vision and purpose, so that when her doctor sent her home for hospice care, she woke up from a coma to spend a wonderful last Thanksgiving and Christmas with her family. And so she capped a life of devotion and dedication to a family that will love her for eternity.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 11 A. M. at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Union Twp., Centre Co.
