Robert L. Brown Jr. passed away on Jan.9 at Mount Nittany Medical Centre after a prolonged illness. He was 66. The son of the late Robert L. Brown Sr. and Barbara A. Brown , he was preceded in death by his brother Philip and is survived by his brothers Jim and Adam, sister Karen , 2 nieces and 4 nephews. Bob was born in Sunbury.Pa. and lived briefly in York and Northumberland before moving to Centre County where he resided for over 50 yrs. He was a graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School and attended Penn State at the Altoona campus. He was employed for many years at the Centre County Solid Waste Transfer Station and later at The Arc of Centre County.
Called “Bobby” by his family and friends he was known as an outgoing, genial person with a kind, easy-going and unassuming personality. Quick with wit and humor he was always fun to be around. Bobby was forever a steady, dependable prescence for his family and generous to a fault. He never married nor had his own family but was greatly contented with playing an important and supportive role in the lives of his siblings, nieces and nephews.
Bobby had many interests and was very knowledgeable on subjects like sports, music and entertainment among others. He was the “go-to” guy for insight into any of those topics. Bobby was a lifelong Penn State football fan and a sports fan in general. He enjoyed fishing and spent many a day angling from his boat or alongside a local creek. He was also an avid Bald Eagle lover, having an almost sixth sense on locating and observing.the birds. He could always be counted on to lead you to the eagles and their nests and to relate their habits and activities.
Bobby was well-liked and treasured by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He was a caring, loving and cherised son, brother and uncle. His passing leaves a huge void in and is an almost insurmountable loss to his surviving family. Though his presence will no longer brighten our daily lives his essence and spirit will lovingly reside in our hearts and minds always. He will be sorely missed. Rest peacefully now Bobby.
