Jean M. Bathurst, 77, of rural Bellefonte passed away on January 6, 2021 at 2:10 P. M., surrounded by her family. Jean was born on March 4, 1943 in Bellefonte a daughter of the late William and Ethel Meyer Spicer. She married George T. Bathurst who survives at home. Also surviving are her children, Robert D. Witmer of Lancaster, Cheryl Witmer of Lancaster, Mary (Barry) Miller of Howard, Jeanette Witmer of State College, Ronald Witmer (Juan Barreno) of Orlando, FL, Dwayne Witmer (Becky Koleno) of Julian; her seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; her siblings Ronnie (Rose) Spicer of Bellefonte, Jimmy Spicer of FL, Tom (Brenda) Spicer of Ranson, WV, Joanne Gill of Bellefonte, Sondra Layton of Pittsburgh, PA and her
caretaker, Tom Selfridge. Jean was employed in housekeeping at Mount Nittany Medical Center before her retirement Jean is of the Protestant faith. She enjoyed gardening, loved to cook, enjoyed bird watching, the outdoors, and her 4-legged friend Princess.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Betty Corman and her two brothers, Harold D. Spicer and William Spicer, Jr.
Family and friends will be received at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., on Sunday, January 10, 2021 from 1 PM to
2:30 PM. A funeral service will follow at 2:30 PM with Pastor Chester Marshall, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
We will be following CDC recommendations, facial coverings will be required and social distancing is required.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin St., Suite 206, State College, PA 16803.
