William H. Fisher, 87 of Epworth Manor, Tyrone, formerly of Dix Run, Julian, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, January 6, 2021. Bill was born in Bellefonte, on September 20, 1933, a son of the late Joseph “Timmy” Harold and Martha Zahniser Fisher. On August 31, 1957, he married the former Alice Confer who survives at home.
Also surviving is his daughter, Linda F. (Robin) Harchak of Altoona and his sons, Timothy H. (Lisa) Fisher of Springfield, VA and Rodney W. (Laurie) Fisher of Lewisburg, WV. Bill is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Aaron Harchak, Abigail Creek, Andrew Harchak, Laura Lowe, Stephanie Lindsay, Joseph Fisher, Levi Fisher and Micah Fisher, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Bill was a member and Sunday school teacher at Berean Bible Fellowship Church in Fleming. At Millersville State Teachers College (now Millersville University) he was two-time state wrestling champion 1955 and 1956. He was a metal shop teacher at Bald Eagle Area High School from 1956-1997. From 1956-1958, he was the head varsity wrestling coach at BEA, and head junior high wrestling coach 1981-1997 with several undefeated seasons. He also built a total of 13 homes during his summer breaks.
Bill enjoyed woodworking, hunting, trapping, fishing, hiking, and camping with the family. He raised cows, honey bees, and strawberries which he gave away to neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berean Bible Fellowship Church, Fleming, PA 16835, in memory of William H. Fisher. Funeral services will be graveside, Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 1:30 pm, with Pastor Timothy Fisher officiating. Oak Ridge Cemetery, Union Township, Centre Co. is located about a half mile south of Unionville on 220.
