Obituary

Allen R. (Pete) Thompson, 90 , of rural Port Matilda, passed away at his residence on Sunday, December 22, 2019. His was born in Philipsburg on October 14, 1929, a son of the late Reuben R. and Anna Elizabeth Smith Thompson. His first wife was the former Betty Lou Stanton, who preceded him in death. On February 11, 2019, he married the former Rose M. Grove who survives at home. Pete is survived by his daughter Jan A. (Fred) Frank of Port Matilda, also surviving are his sons, Allen R. (Donna) Thompson II of Drums, PA and Danny D. (Cathy) Thompson of Bellefonte. Also surviving is his sister, Glenda Pierce of Olean, NY and his grandchildren, Rusty, Adam, Brandy, Danielle, Travis, Ashley, Jared, Mandy, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pete was a veteran having served in the US Marine Corps. He was a life member of American Legion of Port Matilda. He retired from the State College School District in 1995. Pete was the service manager for 20 + years for Stocker Chevrolet and worked as a mechanic his entire life. He was a private pilot and loved flying. He has served as Worth Township Supervisor. He was of the Protestant faith.
In addition to his parents and first wife he was preceded in death by a son, Larry A. Thompson who died on February 28, 2019, his grandson, Allen Thompson III and his sisters, Dorothy Prince and Thelma Colyer.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, December 28, 2019,at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 201 Spring Street, Milesburg from 10 AM until the time of services at 12 Noon, with Chaplain William Esborn officiating. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery, Huston Twp., Centre Co. where military honors will be accorded .
