Donald G. "Don" Hinton, 85, of Milesburg, passed away at his residence, November 29, 2018. Don was born on October 7, 1933, in Howard Township, the son of the late Henry Harold and Carrie Hoover Hinton. Don was a graduate of Howard High School. On August 17, 1956, he married the former Lois M. Johnson, who preceded him in death on March 8, 2003. Don is survived by his son, Curtis G. Hinton (Donna), of rural Bellefonte; and his son-in-law, Ken Snavely, of Milesburg. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kristen Hinton, of Westport, Wash., and Misty Stover, of Beech Creek; and his sister, Violet Green, of Howard. Don was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. Don was traffic manager for Bellefonte Lime Co. before his retirement. Don was a member of Milesburg American Legion Post 893, and a former long time member of CH & L Fire Co. #9 of Milesburg. He loved Bald Eagle Area wrestling and was a devoted Philadelphia Phillies fan, with whom he had a tryout with (along with his best friend Russ Myers). In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Polly D. Snavely; his brothers, Kenneth Hinton and Calvin Hinton; and his sister, Pauline Newman. Family and friends will be received on Monday, December 3, 2018, from 12:00 Noon - 1:00 p.m. at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 201 Spring St., Milesburg; funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Mike Fisher, officiating. Burial will be in Schencks Cemetery, Howard Township, Centre County, where military honors will be accorded.
