James A. Selner, Sr., 78. of Julian passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. James was born in Curwensville on July 17, 1940, the son of the late Lester and June Holt Selner. He married the former Sharon Robbins, who survives at home. Along with his wife he is
survived by his sons, James A. (Shellie) Selner, Jr. of Julian, Russell L (Beth) Selner of Millheim; his daughter, Catherine (John) Marr of Newery; his sister, Nancy Levine of Glen Richey. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jamielynn Selner, Tyler Selner, Kasey Selner, Isabel Marr, Korey Selner and his great granddaughter, Sheydra Tylwalk.
James was a retired police officer who served in the State College Police Department for 28 years. He served his country in the National Guard Reserves. He was a member of the Freedom Life Church where he was very active in the church. He was a member of the FOP Lodge #51, the Retired State College Police Officers Assoc., the American Legion and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, painting and master woodworking.
Family and friends will be received at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring Street, Milesburg on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Eric Gerber officiating.
A funeral service will also be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Olanta at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Eric Gerber officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Knox Twp., Clearfield Co., Pa.
