Sara Faye Packer Meckley, 90, of rural Julian, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018, at Haven Skilled and Rehabilitation Center in Lock Haven. Faye was born on January 19, 1928, a daughter of the late James C. and Ada J. Watson Packer. On March 11, 1951, she married James A. Meckley, who preceded her in death on February 24, 1990. Faye was a telephone operator for Bell Telephone before her retirement. She was a member of Bald Eagle Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her church family. Faye is survived by her daughter, Alice M. (Tom) Rodkey, of rural Julian; her sons, Arthur J. Meckley, of Port Matilda, and Barry L. (Lisa) Meckley, of Lamar. Faye is also survived by her grandchildren, Brett (Paula) Rodkey, of Alexandria, Melanie (Dan) Hannon, of Julian, Justin Rodkey, of Bloomsburg, Arthur L. (Chris) Meckley, of Julian, Brock A. Meckley, of Port Matilda, Todd Taylor, of Beech Creek, Tiffany (Mark) Wolfe, of New Jersey, and Lenea (Ryan) Helm, of Alexandria, Va.; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Ethel L. Sager, of Julian, Mary Lou Carlin, of Snow Shoe; and her brother, William Clark Packer, of Snow Shoe. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her great granddaughter Amanda Jane Meckley; her daughter-in-law, Debra Meckley; her three sisters, Elizabeth Lightner, Alice Strunk, Virginia Saxion; her three brothers, Martin Packer, Warren Packer and James Packer. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, September 16, 2018, from 6-9 p.m. at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg. Funeral Services will be held at Bald Eagle Baptist Church, 6644 S. Eagle Valley Road, Port Matilda, on Monday, September 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Benjamin Lee, officiating. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery, Huston Township, Centre County. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bald Eagle Baptist Church, c/o Melanie Hannon, 221Mudlick Road, Julian, PA 16844, in memory of Sara Faye Packer Meckley.
