Condolence: It was with profound shock and sadness that I read of Mack's death---while perusing the lists sent to us ahead of our 50th high school reunion, and saw Mack's name on the list I would never have wished to see it on. Mack and I go back to 3rd grade at Lemon Road School, in Falls Church, VA, where his mother was a teacher (she did not teach me but I believe my brother was in her class). Mack was always a big guy, and I a puny little fellow with a brittle-bone condition, but we were good friends back then, and I recall spending many happy hours at the Mahan house in the Falls Hill section of Falls Church. As so often happens, our paths diverged as we grew up, but only in the last year or two did I Google Mack's name to see what he was up to---and, also as so often happens, fully intended to drop him an email to say hi, but never did. Our oldest friends always have a special place in our hearts, even if we've been out of touch for decades, and Mack will always have a special place in mine. Rest well, old friend.
Condolence: I am so shocked and saddened by Mack's death. I knew Mack when he lived in Falls Church, VA where we both went to intermediate and high school together. We were currently preparing for our 50th high school reunion at George Marshall High in Falls Church and I was so looking forward to seeing him again. I used to have this huge crush on him in 8th grade and it continued into high school where he played football. Mack was such a large teddy bear, but so nice, kind and a genuine good guy who I was so glad to call my friend. My sincerest condolences go out to his wife, children and family. Rest in peace my dear friend.
You have been in my thoughts non-stop since I read of Mack's passing on Facebook. Please accept my condolences. What a wonderful man he was as evidenced by his obituary and all the loving comments on Facebook. May you feel God's presence surrounding you all now and always. And thank you for posting that his Celebration of Life will be on August 25th. I definitely hope to attend.
Please accept my sincere condolences for your recent loss. My heart goes out to you and your family. I have always received comfort from the Bibles’ word at Philippians 4:7 which reads “and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus”.
I hope you can receive comfort from these words as well. Margo Simmons
