Obituary for Donald Bathurst

Donald K. Bathurst, 77 of Rural Howard, surrounded by his family went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, July 26, 2017. Don was born on January 30, 1940, in Milesburg, a son of the late Malcolm and Sara Shultz Bathurst. Don was a member of the first graduating class at Bald Eagle Area High School in 1957. On August 20, 1963, he married the former Barbara J. Emel, who survives at home. Don is also survived by his son, Donald K. Bathurst II; his daughters, Gwen (Matt) Bickhart, and Sonia (Jonathan) Roan, all of rural Howard. Also surviving are his 17 grandchildren, Heather, Don III, Amberly, Danielle, Derrick, Janelle, Kelly, Nicholas, Katie, Tamara, Autumn, Mackenzie, Madison, Trent, Shadahlia, Luke, and Payton; and his 14 great-grandchildren. Don was a lead technician at Corning for 30 years. After his retirement, he became a consultant specialist for Corning. While he was at Corning, he was head of the recreation committee. Don loved his Church. He was a life member of Milesburg Baptist Church where he was a former Council President and a Deacon. He enjoyed spending time with his family up on Bathurst Mountain. He loved his dogs, and going to air shows. One year for Father's Day, he received a gift for a flight on a fighter jet. Don was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Gladys Mann and M. Josephine Kresovich; and his brother, Ronald "Pete" Bathurst. Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 12:00 Noon, at the Milesburg Baptist Church, 110 Market St., Milesburg, with Pastor B. Jeffrey Trawinski, officiating. Family and friends will be received at the church from 10:00 a.m. - Noon time of the services. Burial will be in Eagle Cemetery, Boggs Township, Centre County, where military honors will be accorded.
