Obituary for Russell Edward Lucas

Russell Edward Lucas, 77, of rural Howard, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. Ed was born on Sept. 20, 1939, in Howard Township, a son of the late Fred W. and Cora Louise Gallagher Lucas. On Dec. 15, 1962, he married the former Shirley A. Cleaver, who survives at home. Ed is also survived by his sons, Timothy C. (Dawn) Lucas, Daniel K.( Leanne) Lucas; his daughter, Christine L. (Patrick) Brower; eight grandchildren, Heather Zimmerman, Kelli-Jo (Cole) Irvin, Tracy (Jason) Lucas, Shayne Lucas, Decker (Iriana) Brower, Heidi Brower, Hannah Brower and Matthew Brower; and his eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Melvin (Shirley) Lucas, Rich (Sammy) Lucas, Vincent (Jane) Lucas, Kenny (Deb) Lucas and his sister, Norma (Richard) Lucas. Russell was a veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps, with the rank of LNC Corporal. Ed was employed at Cerro Metal Products in Belleftonte, in the Tool & Dye Department. He was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and also hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Holly Brower; his brothers, Donald Lucas and Junie Lucas and his sisters, Mary Schlegel, Catherine Lucas, Dorothy Shuey, Beverly Cleaver and Phyllis Barndt. There will be no public visitation.
Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg.
